J Callander is the musical and lyrical product of growing up on his parents’ Simon & Garfunkel and Bob Dylan records......before graduating to early nineties rockers like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden......and then finally discovering the likes of Mark Knopfler, Johnny Cash……and most especially, New Zealand’s own criminally under-appreciated, Derek Lind.

J Callander spent his twenties playing in Dunedin-based bands: writing and recording and gigging and touring and dreaming impossible dreams……until eventually good sense prevailed, and he embraced the more practical path of family and gainful employment.

​

But the best bad habits die hard.

​

Twenty years on, Jeremy has a new record, Shadows in the Shade, recorded with Matt Thompson @ Saffron Park Studio and mixed/mastered by musical Viking, Oscar and two time Grammy nominee Aaron Glemboski @ Red Beard Productions.
